In 1996, J. Kenyon Lang (34) graduated
from Boston College with a bachelor’s
degree in economics and sociology.
He began the typical
post-college job search
and had offers from some
rather large corporate
consulting and human
resources firms such as
Anderson Consulting
and Hewitt Associates.
While narrowing his
options he became familiar,
through friends
and acquaintances,
with financial services,
learning strategies
and working on a
program titled
Fishbird. Eventually
he began
his own firm,
Cambium, a financial
services
business.
“I help identify the types of clients that we
can help, work with and impact the most. We
interview clients and determine who would
best serve them. I am also responsible for ensuring
the integrity of our organization is in
place. The idea is to create something bigger
than ourselves and leave it to people who
can be completely responsible for it.”
“My wife is one of the most generous
individuals you can meet. She is a pediatric
physical therapist and is never too busy to
help a friend, client, animal or even her husband.
When I met her, my business had already
made a huge jump and I was relatively
successful. My wife taught me that making
a difference is what really matters. I have
grown more from knowing my wife for
three years than I did in my prior 30 years.”
“Work hard, don’t be greedy and always
make sure that you have integrity.”
